Redefining "FAST"
In the foodservice industry, we have a standard definition for “fast food,” meaning quick-service restaurants. But in today’s market, where industry definitions sometimes blur, Technomic will explore things from consumers’ point of view, where fast food is defined as quickly acquiring food away from home. This new definition is about “food fast,” regardless of the channel.
To establish a more accurate, consumer-oriented picture of the current status and future of fast food, this new study will explore trends in traditional quick-service/fast casual restaurants and also delivery and carryout from all segments including full service operators. Specifically, our analysis of fast food and “food fast” will include:
- 17 quick-casual sub-segments
- Fast casual
- Nine full-service subsegments
Sales for dine-in, takeout and delivery from all channels will be explored in the research.
Suppliers that sponsor the Fast Foods Market Assessment Module will be able to:
- Enhance the focus of future R&D efforts
- Leverage insights about the needs of both the operator and the consumer
- Identify new account opportunities
- Identify opportunities to serve the changing needs of existing accounts
- Predict and plan for “trading up” consumer activity as the economy recovers
- Leverage insights in presentations to national accounts
- Add support to strategic planning initiatives
- Identify specific chains that represent a good fit for your products
The goal is to clearly understand the market for "food fast" across foodservice channels and provide new insights about the industry. This major study will provide thought-provoking, forward-looking perspectives on what fast food means to consumers and, more importantly, to your organization.
