Chicago, July 9, 2007, Business Wire – A growing number of consumers believe that the availability of healthy restaurant menu offerings is extremely important but that their satisfaction with these offerings is fairly low, according to Nutritrack, a major Technomic consumer research study on health and nutrition trends.

Technomic evaluated consumer satisfaction with the healthy and nutritious offerings of 37 leading restaurant chains and found that a fairly low ratio of consumers was truly satisfied with the chains’ offerings. The chains that do the best job in satisfying consumer demands are Subway, Olive Garden, Red Lobster and Applebee’s.

“Our research clearly indicates that consumer demand for healthy menu options is growing and that most restaurant chains are falling short in truly meeting this demand,” says Bob Goldin, Executive Vice President of Technomic. “The data should serve as a wake-up call for the restaurant industry to accelerate its health and nutrition initiatives.”
