1966
Technomic Inc. is founded by Ron Paul. The consulting and research firm is predicated on the combination of the terms “technology” and “economics”. The original vision for Technomic is to assess the impact of technology on business.
1969
Technomic files to become a public company. Shortly after, the public shares are repurchased and the company returns to a private ownership.
1970
The first Foodservice Planning Program is held. It has been providing Fortune 500 foodservice manufacturers with critical strategic intelligence ever since.
1974
The Top 100 Chain Restaurant Report is published. It later becomes the Top 500 Chain Restaurant Report.
1975
Technomic builds international consulting offices across Europe, Asia and South America.
1985
Technomic spins off non-food practice in order to focus on foodservice.
1993
The first Foodservice Industry “Wall Chart” is printed, including segment performance and forecasts.
1993
Technomic coins the term “quick casual”, later to be renamed fast casual for industry consistency.
1998
Technomic Information Services is formed as a separate publishing division.
2001
Technomic launches iLab, the industry’s first online operator research panel, later to become the Operator Community Panel in 2017.
2002
The Digital Resource Library, an online operator intelligence tool, is unveiled. This is the first of several additional online syndicated services to be launched, including MenuMonitor (2004) and Consumer Brand Metrics (2010).
2008
Technomic embarks upon a strategic partnership with French company, CHD Expert, who provides a global in-depth understanding of the foodservice market.
2015
Technomic is acquired by Winsight LLC, a B2B media and information services company specializing in the convenience-retailing, restaurant and noncommercial foodservice industries.
2017
Winsight is acquired by Pamlico Capital, joining their core portfolio of Business & Technology Services, Communications and Healthcare.
