Predictions for the new year are all included in one concise table

CHICAGO, Feb. 12, 2019—Technomic released its foodservice forecast and sizing for 2019, including data parceled out by industry segment. The company has been producing these forward-looking predictions for about 50 years. Twice a year, Technomic breaks down these complex numbers into an easily digestible chart to allow for a high-level review of where the industry stands and where it is projected to go in the year ahead. This release, combined with Technomic’s recently implemented predictive capabilities, showcase the most informed suggestions and indicators for the future developments in the industry.

“Now, more than ever, foodservice players need to understand the segment trends in the industry,” explains Joe Pawlak, managing principal at Technomic. “Reviewing our data on a formal basis semiannually allows us to home in on the most accurate forecasts as changing market conditions present themselves and provide our partners with the most up-to-date projections available.”

Technomic’s recent State of the Industry presentation provides some color to the numbers. Key themes include:

  • Economy is still solid but is not necessarily translating into strong industry sales
  • Consumer connection through experience and beating expectations is critical
  • Off-premise and delivery are changing the calculus across all segments

Technomic releases this market-sizing and forecast resource semiannually, always covering all major foodservice segments.
